Have you thought about working remotely from Porto, Portugal? The District of Porto is located on the north-west coast of Portugal.  I spent 3 weeks working there; primarily in Porto, the capital, and Matosinhos, a city on the beach.

It’s one of the most relaxing, beautiful places I’ve ever been.

Where to Work

If you like coworking spaces, let me introduce you to Porto I/O.  I got to work from all 3 locations.  They have one in downtown Porto near shops and cafes, one that sits on the river, and another which is steps from the beach.

IMG_2794This is a shot from the seaside location, which is technically in Matosinhos, but still in the Porto district.

If you prefer cafes, there is this cute, 3 story place named Moustache on Praça de Carlos Alberto 104, 4050-158 Porto.

If you’re like me and work US hours, you’ll need a place that’s open late.  Moustache is open until 10 pm, and the food is delicious.

Where to Get Lost

By the water.  You’ve got two choices: the riverfront, or the ocean. Those are two great choices 🙂 Riverfront you’ll find lots of restaurants, boats, and places to drink Port wine.  On the Oceanfront, you’ll see lots of surfing.

Or, just walk around, and turn any corner. Porto is one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever seen.

Where to Eat

Finding good food in Porto is probably one of the easiest things I’ve ever done.  It doesn’t matter if you’re going to a small corner store to grab something quickly, or if you prefer a sit-down restaurant.  You’ll enjoy the food.

My favorite place to eat was Zenith Brunch and Cocktail Bar.  It was quick enough for me to grab something on my lunch break but relaxed enough for me to catch up with friends. The food, service, and cocktails were all done really well.

That’s it! If there’s anything else you’d like to know about working from Porto, just ask.
