Welcome to Get To Know Us.  I’ve been looking to connect with more women and non-binary folks who are kind, hard-working, and can teach me a thing or two.  Turns out our community is full of them 🙂 I’d love to get to know you too! Tag @SheNomads on Instagram, and use the hashtag #SheNomads so I can DM you for a chat.

What do you do?

“Hi, SheNomads! My name is Hailley (@hailleymari). I’m the Public Relations Manager and Editor of the Open Blog at Buffer.   I’m from Toronto, Canada.”

Where is your favorite place to travel to?

“I live in Colorado now so I love traveling home to Canada whenever I can. It’s such a huge country and I’m keen to continue exploring it. One of my favorite spots is Whitehorse, Yukon, it’s close to Alaska. I maintain that I may move there one day.”

Can you give us three remote work tips?

1. “Keep home and work separate by never working from bed.”
2. “Keep a pretty strict routine just like you would going to an office.”
3. “Make time and space for an in-person community and connections.”

What do you do for work-life balance?

“I am very strict about times I am working and times I am relaxing. I give myself mornings before work without checking email or Slack, and the same goes for evenings after work, weekends, and holidays. Initially, it was quite difficult for me to turn off so many notifications out of fear of missing something, but I’ve recently realized that I don’t want other people setting my schedule or priorities and notifications tend to do that. If there’s an emergency then I’ll get a phone call.”

What is your favorite podcast?

“I’m obsessed with so many podcasts, so this is tough. It would have to be Cortex by RelayFM. It’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea but I am anxiously waiting for each episode to come out.”

  • “Keep home and work separate by never working from bed.” I need to get better at this. Does anyone else have this problem?
